Please note the restaurant is closed to the general public and only open for in-house guests. We look forward to welcoming you in the future.

We do a 'plat du soir' each evening, we use as many fresh fruits, vegetables and herbs from our garden in our cooking also local meats and fish as available.

Our menu is kept small to ensure the ingredients are fresh. Enjoy a romantic dinner by the log fire in winter and in summer outside on the verandah overlooking the Aire River Wildlife Reserve and the lakes down to castle Cove.

Some restaurants measure their ingredients in food miles. With our vegetables, fruit and herbs is is usually measured in steps. Often, while you are reading the menu, your salad and vegetables are still growing.

The Garden

Our position on the Great Ocean Road provides a sheltered position perfect for an abundance of fruits, berries, vegetables and herbs. To be able to grow and then pick our kitchen produce daily gives our restaurant the freshest ingredients available along the Great Ocean Road. Seasonal changes along the coast means a wide range of ingredients can be grown at different times of year.

Our garden is watered with rain water or our own natural spring water. We use Seasol products to further enhance the growth and condition of our soil and sheep manure from our neighbouring farmers. Our soil is pretty amazing as it has had 80 years of sheep wandering over the grass, a perfect start for an organic garden.

Seasonal produce

At different times of year there will be different produce in the garden.

So here is a list of what you may find throughout the year in the garden. Broad beans, dwarf beans, baby beets, beetroot, cabbage, cauliflower, egg plant, several varieties of lettuce, leek, onions, peas, potatoes, parsley, chives, rocket, silverbeet, spinach, rhubarb, parsnip, sugarsnap peas, thyme, coriander, tomatoes, basil, rosemary, carrots, radish, strawberries, sweet corn, zucchini, squash, turnip, pumpkin, capsicum, cucumber, peaches, plums, apples, grape fruit, lime, lemon, oranges, gooseberries, blackberries, raspberries, mulberries, pears, mint, spearmint, garlic, red currant and probably many more that I've forgotten this is hiding in corners of the Restaurant Garden.
